Product Description
lip is for girls who think, feel, create, speak out and live. Girls who aren't afraid to be themselves. This issue, lip zooms in on the zodiac and dreams some lucid dreams in our New Age feature. We share our love of music with an interview with Young & Restless front woman Karina Utomo, and attempt to define heavy metal. We take a stand, and a seat, for animal activism and reproductive rights. Are you a geek girl? We bring you library fashion, girls on gaming, zine-making and collecting snake skins (!) And whether you want a relationship for yourself, others want one for you, or a relationship exists you weren't even aware of, we have the story for you.

5 out of 5 stars it's beautiful!   August 20, 2008

This is the long-awaited issue of the next generation lip. It is smaller and less glossy (not the cover: it is all shiny and new!) but the soft matte graininess of the pages give it a warmth that works really well with its feminine (though not girly and not mainstream) aesthetic. It continues to deliver great artwork by young people and is now full colour throughout. With its continuing focus on content, this issue of lip brings you articles about gals and gaming and about choosing to be single and abstinent, as well as the flowing fashions of 22-year-old Eline M. And the familiar columns are still there too. Editor Rachel Longhurst has set herself a mission for the next year of unsullying the reputation of that long-oppressed f-word: feminism. lip is a perfect example of how relevant and inspirational it still is.

5 out of 5 stars Great for young women   September 3, 2008

Lip is a fantastic magazine for young women. Unlike most magazines geared toward this audience, Lip doesn't overwhelm you with advertising or even pseudo-advertising articles that plug cosmetics and fashion. Instead, Lip focuses on stories and features from young women themselves-- talking about the things young women have to deal with like careers, dating, body image, and friends. This is the perfect subscription for anyone looking to read about more than celebrities and makeup.

Full disclosure: this review was posted by the sister of the magazine's founder.

5 out of 5 stars LIP rocks   July 20, 2009
J. Holt (USA)
LIP is possibly the smartest, funniest, most provocative, and easily best graphically composed periodical targeted towards young Women today....
it's hip, politically sophisticated, and spans the breadth of 21st century cultural interests ranging from sex (n-a-t-u-ra-l-l-y!), politics, corsets (really!), art, music, geekiness (or not).....a wonderful read and cogent insight for folks of all ages interested in the cutting edge of "what's what".....
i'm getting a subscription.
